MAC Pallette mania

This is definitely my favourite and most fun item(s) in my make up bag. I would love to say it took me ages to save for and build up my MAC eyeshadow collection but it didn’t take all that long. Mainly because I am a real impulse buyer, if I spy a new MAC eye shadow to use for a specific eye make up look, I buy it, usually without very much deliberation - good for my collection, not for my bank balance!

I mainly go for neutrals as I have blue eyes, and I find it difficult to wear colours on my lids without looking like an experimental 12 year old or a drag queen, so I play it safe with these beauties.

From left to right – Mulch, Sumptuous Olive, Sable, Coquette, Brule, Woodwinked, Club, Satin Taupe, Blackberry, Kid, Amber Lights, Sketch, Embark, Cranberry.

As you can see, my most used colours are:

Sumptuous Olive – This is great to create a really easy smokey eye, if I want to look like I’ve made a real effort without much effort this is my go to shadow. It blends so easily and really compliments my eye colour and skin tone. It doesn’t look like much in the pan but I promise once it’d on your lid it really comes into it’s own! If I do want to increase the depth of the smokiness, I would blend a little Embark through the crease and lashlines.

Woodwinked – Again, another great everyday shadow, super simple to blend and will work with the majority of skin tones and eye colours. I wear it all over the lid and under the eye for an understated everyday look or simply blend a little Embark through the crease, along the upper lash line and outside corner.

Brule – I sweep this neutral shadow all across the lid, blend Kid through the crease and bottom lash line. With a thin line of black gel liner super close to the upper lashline to create a simple but elegant eye look.

Amber Lights and Antiqued, although not my most frequently used, are by far my favourites. The pigmentation in these shadows is so rich and complimentary to all eye colours (especially blues and greens), really make the eye colour pop. I usually use these for a night out or when my skin is more tanned (fake obviously, woe is me and my melanin-lacking skin).

I also included two MAC paint pots, because if your eyelids are anything like mine (oily and not eyeshadow friendly) then these will be absolute lifesavers! I find they keep my eyeshadow on all day, minimise fall out (which I have to say MAC eyeshadows have very little of anyway) and completely prevent any lines forming. My favourites are Painterly which I use for everyday and lighter looks, and Constructivist which I use under darker eyeshadows because it really intensifies the colour you're using.

Please let me know what your favourite MAC eyeshadow is, or which ones are on your make up lust list, I’m always on the lookout for new shades to add to my collection!

Love,
